Dallas-Fort Worth isn’t technically one of the cities hosting World Cup matches, but the region is fully benefiting from the tournament effect: several national teams have set up camp there to train, bringing with them a wave of fans — and an enthusiastic response from local restaurateurs.

Many chefs in the Texas metro area have taken the opportunity to rework their menus around international cuisines for the duration of the tournament: expanded offerings, reimagined dishes, and a spotlight on specialties tied to the countries of the teams touring the region. It’s also a reminder that Dallas-Fort Worth has a very large international population, for whom these cuisines aren’t just a marketing angle but everyday food.

The initiative echoes what’s been seen elsewhere in the region, like at Argentina 163 in Euless and its “Messi plate”: rather than simply enduring the tournament, part of the local restaurant scene has chosen to use it as a showcase for a few weeks.
